I looked over the budget in the Bully today and couldn't see anything I'd be willing to give up so am happy to pay the additional $300 - $400. Everyone pays for the benefits of living in Townsville and as we have a smaller population than Melbourne our share is a little more. If my choices were between pay $550 in rates and live in Melbourne or pay $2500 and live in Townsville - Townsville wins easily.

i gotta agree with lurker on that one. i'd rather live here with higher rates, than in a capital city with less rates. i like having trees and clean air. less industrial air.

but i do agree with you - rates are waaaaayyy to bloody high!

but tyrell is doing a good job.

I don't understand why there had to be so high of a rate rise?? I would have been happy with a 5-7% rate rise, but a14.9% is just unfair to the ratepayers of TSV. I would like to know if the ACCC can investigate and determine if this is fair and legal for such a high rate rise, not everyone is on a six figure salary in TSV.
Maybe it's time for the people of TSV to protest on the TCC Chambers, maybe people power may wake up Bushranger Les Tyrell (aka King Les).
